First-rate production technology: ABB production and office space

“The trust placed in us by the ABB group, which manufactures and supplies cutting-edge technology, had to be justified. Its large building consists of an administrative block, a production area and a gallery spanning two floors. In designing the building we took into account its future expansion needs, in terms of both its width and its height. Our choice of materials was largely inspired by the architecture of the group’s buildings in Finland, since ABB wished to follow the same lines.

The principle of openness was implemented throughout the building generally, with links created between the man-made environment and the surrounding natural environment. The small meeting rooms in the central office zone were seen as a useful solution, as they also serve the function of rooms in which to make phone calls. Spaces were created for workers which provide them with sufficient privacy while retaining an open feeling. Positive feedback was received from users of the building about the spacious, east-facing balcony in the office section, which enjoys beautiful views over the adjacent park and pond and to the terrace below.”
